Schop be­came a mem­ber of the Roy­al Dan­ish Court mu­si­cians in Co­pen­ha­gen, and, in 1621, lead­er of the Rats­mu­sik (mu­ni­ci­pal mu­si­cians) group in Ham­burg, Ger­ma­ny. He was a well known vi­o­lin­ist in ad­di­tion to his com­po­si­tions.
