Ethel and her husband Walter engaged in rescue mission work for 16 years in Montreal, Canada; 5 years in Columbus, Ohio; and ran the Pacific Garden Mission, Chicago, Illinois (1918–36). They belonged to the Moody Church in Chicago, probably while they were at the Pacific Garden Mission.
