Born: 1711. Various sources give his birthplace as Douai, France, or in England.
Died: August 16, 1786, Douai, France.
Buried: Westminster Cathedral, London, England.
A Catholic layman, Wade fled the Jacobite rebellion in 1745, settling in Douai, France. He taught music and copied plain chant and hymn manuscripts for private use.
If you know where to get a good picture of Wade (head & shoulders, at least 200×300 pixels), Note: The portrait at Findagrave is a photo, but Wade died before the invention of photography.
