Come, Lord Jesus, O come quickly!
Come! O heed Thy children’s cry;
Come, for Thee our souls are yearning;
Come! in all Thy power draw nigh.
Come! and end this night of anguish;
Come! make earth once more most fair;
Come! for Thee our spirits languish;
Come! and meet us in the air.
Come! for man’s rule is but failure;
Come! for e’en Thy Church grows old;
Come! the darkness is increasing;
Ills are rife within Thy fold.
Oh, come quickly! Lord, come quickly!
Tarry not, no longer wait;
In this dark, dread hour of midnight,
May we hear Thee at the gate.
Come, then come, our king and Savior,
To this earth once more return;
Unto Thee our prayer we’re raising,
And for Thee our spirits yearn.
Come, and claim Thy blood-bought purchase,
End the rule of self and sin;
Come in all Thy grace and glory;
Let Thy blessèd reign begin!
