My griefs of heart abound,
Relieve my sore distress,
See my affliction and my pain,
Forgive my sinfulness.
Consider Thou my foes,
So many and so bold,
For cruel is the hatred, Lord,
Which they against me hold.
Defend and keep my soul,
From foes deliver me,
And let me not be brought to shame:
I put my trust in Thee.
Be truth and right my shield,
Because I wait for Thee;
Thy Church, O God, do Thou redeem
From all adversity.
