Biography

May was the daugh­ter of Da­ni­el Whit­tle and Abi­gail Han­son, and wife of Will­iam Re­vell Moo­dy (son of 19th Cen­tu­ry ev­an­gel­ist Dwight Ly­man Moo­dy).

She at­tend­ed Dwight Moo­dy’s Girl’s School in North­field, Mas­sa­chu­setts; Ob­er­lin Col­lege (1888–89); and the Roy­al Aca­de­my of Mu­sic in Lon­don (1890–91).

A gift­ed sing­er, she as­sist­ed her fa­ther and Dwight Moo­dy in their ev­an­gel­ism work, and co-ed­it­ed (with Charles M. Al­ex­an­der) North­field Hym­nal No. 3.
