Remember your promise to Jesus
You made in the years long ago;
A loved one from earth’s scenes was passing,
The glories of Heaven to know.
Your heart then with anguish was breaking,
And tears were bedimming your eyes;
You promised your Lord and your loved one
To meet them some day in the skies.
The world with its business and pleasures
Has claimed all your thought every day;
A leaf on life’s current, you’ve drifted
Still farther and farther away.
While God from His bounty has clothed you,
And fed you and kept you from ill,
Though you of His care are unmindful,
He loves you and cares for you still.
Renew now your vow made to Jesus;
Come, trusting His power to save;
For there is no hope, and no mercy
Extended beyond the dark grave.
Come back, for His arms are wide open,
And time is swift passing away;
The days of probation are ending,
Get right with your God while you may.
