Biography

Byers was the son of An­drew By­ers (1827–1899) and song writ­er Nan­cy By­ers, hus­band of Del­la Flo­rence Wick­ers­ham (mar­ried May 19, 1895, Ohio), bro­ther of Ja­cob By­ers, and fa­ther of Lu­el­la By­ers Hen­ry.

In 1890, he joined Da­ni­el War­ner and Bar­ney War­ren in evan­gel­is­tic work, and the next year was hired by the Gos­pel Trum­pet Pub­lish­ing Com­pa­ny as mu­sic ed­it­or.

He left the com­pa­ny in 1922 for health rea­sons, and worked as an ev­an­gel­ist and pas­tor in Ida­ho & Ore­gon be­fore tak­ing a pas­tor­ate in Sac­ra­men­to, Ca­li­for­nia, in 1934.
