Buried: Hol­den Lu­ther­an Ce­me­te­ry, Ken­yon, Min­ne­so­ta.

Biography

George was the son of An­dre­as Tor­ger­sen and An­drine Ca­ro­line An­ders­dat­ter Holt­er, and hus­band of Cla­ra Lou­ise Aa­ker.

He gra­du­at­ed in 1861 from Lu­ther Col­lege, De­cor­ah, Io­wa, at­tend­ed Lu­ther Se­mi­na­ry and Ca­pi­tal Uni­ver­si­ty for two years, and taught at Lu­ther Se­mi­na­ry in 1883.

He went on to serve in ma­ny posts:

He ed­ited the Unit­ed Lu­ther­an (1909–14), the Am­eri­can Lu­ther­an Sur­vey (1914–21) and the Lu­ther­an Her­ald (from 1925).
