Biography

John was the son of John Ten­ney and Sa­lly L. Chap­man, and hus­band of Al­ice Pot­ter (mar­ried March 27, 1888).

Born just af­ter the pre­si­den­tial cam­paign of Tip­pe­ca­noe and Ty­ler, too, he was named af­ter Am­er­ican pre­si­dent Wil­liam Hen­ry Har­rison.

Tenney was a dea­con in the Con­gre­ga­tion­al Church in Line­brook, Mas­sa­chu­setts.

He ed­it­ed ov­er 30 books, and con­trib­ut­ed to hun­dreds more.
